It’s Mash-up time!
This week, we conclude our look at how the Funnies characters would have looked if I had gone sci-fi instead of fantasy. You know the drill, click to embiggen.
First up is Zoë. The Mouse Wing would still have existed, only instead of living birds, the mice would ride jet-birds. Zoë’s ride would have been P0PK1N. This drawing turned out a lot bigger than my usual mash-ups. It took up so much memory that the program crashed several times while I was working on it, including after I had “finished” causing me to have to redo a lot of the shading. It’s a good thing I always save before the shading process begins or I would have lost everything.
Next up is the Big Oonch. Oonch would have been a drifter in this setting. How fortunate that the reflective glare from his helmet hid his eyes.
Cyran would still have been a tinkerer of sorts, only his wrench would have been stuck to the glove of his space suit instead of his paw. This lends the question, why not just buy a new pair of gloves?
Finally, we have Deema. Deema would have been an alien princess in Space Age of Animus, so her look is different from the other characters. Her body would be able to stand up to the vacuum of space, so she wouldn’t need a suit, only the bubble to breathe.
That’s all for Space Age of Animus. Come back next week as we look at another semi-spacey theme.
It’s that time of week again, when the Animus Funnies merge with pop culture icons to produce MASH-UPS! This week, we conclude our look at Marvel’s X-Men. Let’s get right to it! As always, click to embiggen.
Professor Cyran Xavier is a strong believer in mutant rights, being a mutant himself (if only he could figure out how to unglue the wrench from his paw). It is he who assembled the X-Furs to assist him in his quest for good. I chose Professor X’s hover-chair specifically so I wouldn’t have to draw wheels.
Redcrawler has the power to teleport himself from place to place. Here he is appearing with a BAMF.
Deelocke is a martial artist with psychic powers which she can manifest among other ways as a psychic knife and her butterfly shaped psycho-blast.
Finally, we have Zoenix. Formerly known as the mutant mouse Zoë Gray, the Zoenix came into being when Zoë merged with the Phoenix force given her a huge power boost that she ultimately could not control. I really dig how the fiery phoenix effect turned out.
That’s it for the X-Furs! Come back next week for something new!
