Good afternoon. Friday is upon us so let us rejoice with the joining of Age of Animus to pop culture.

Here’s my little buddy Skitter dressed up as Bumblebee. It occurs to me now that I’m posting this that his left forearm is too long, but what’s done is done. I still think this turned out pretty decent. If I’d started with Bumblebee instead of Optimus Prime way back when, I might have been more tempted to finish the set.

Flashback – Optimus Prime

Hello everybody! It’s time for another flashback! So let’s get to it.

It’s been close to seven years since I first tried a Transformers mash-up. I did Prime and then I decided that it wasn’t working so I dropped it. I’ve progressed since then and thought I’d try again.

Here we have Red Rich reprising his role as Optimus Prime. I really like how the helmet turned out. The rest is…ok.

Here’s the comparison to the original. Back then I was trying to follow Prime’s design more than I was trying to adapt it to fit my character. I simplified things much more for the update. It’s not perfect, but it fits better.

That’s all for today. I didn’t hate the result as much this time around so I have some new Transformers mash-ups coming up. Have a good weekend everybody. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Wonderland – Card Guard

Hi there! It’s Friday of a weird week so let’s cap it off with something equally weird and maybe a little wonderful.

Here we have Skitter dressed up as a playing card guard. I really didn’t know what I wanted to dress Skitter up as. The remaining characters didn’t really look distinctive enough. So he got stuck as a card.

Here’s Chae as the Queen of Hearts! It’s a funky dress design and I think it turned out alright. It was an interesting challenge.

Flashback Friday – The King of Hearts

Good morning! Hope the day is going well so far! But then you’re starting it off right with a mash-up so how can it not be?

Here’s Red Rich as the King of Hearts. I went with the King of Hearts back in the day because, even though the Queen of Hearts is a more important character, it made more sense to have Rich as the King. This is an okay piece, hate the colouring I’m doing, BUT I found a brush tool I like better than the ones I’ve been using so far. I’m hoping it’ll get better as I get used to it.

Here’s a comparison to the original. I tried a completely original design the first time and this time I tried to go back to the look from the original Alice illustrations, which were much more inspired by playing cards.
