Hey folks!
I’m a little later than usual posting the blog this week. First off, I went out shopping for a new bike after work today. Last fall I had my bike stolen off my back porch (not fun). I decided to wait until the spring to replace it. The weather is more inviting now and hey, my bus pass for the month of April is up, so carpe diem! I found myself a nice bike that was within the price range I was comfortable with. For the price I paid my last bike (a Miele, which honestly wasn’t a great bike looking back) I’m getting what I feel is a much better bike (a Rocky Mountain). It’ll be ready tomorrow (awww, but I wanted it now!) so I’ll be taking the bus again tomorrow. I should have gone shopping over the weekend, then it would have been ready for today, but the weather was icky on Saturday and the bike shop wasn’t open on Sunday.
Okay so the bike shopping got me home about a half hour later than usual. Conveniently enough my buddy Fab was passing by the bike shop just as I was walking in and he followed me in and offered me a lift home when I was done. Otherwise, I would have had to wait for the next bus home. Thanks Fab!
This weekend was a combination of Double XP Weekend (officially called Welcome Back Weekend) and the tail-end of the 5th Anniversary Festival. I logged back in to try to win myself another horse for Todric, my Loremaster who’s been amassing a little stable of horses for himself) and then seeing that the double XP bonus was still in effect, I logged in with Cerenwyn to take advantage. Level 38 is a long one!
As I was playing I remembered that I hadn’t written my blog yet, so I logged out and here I am.
Last week I was on a mash-up roll. This week’s theme is Star Trek and it features the full cast of eight (Popkin and Mouser don’t count). I started with Big Oonch and finished four more in one night. The others were done the next night. No last minute drawing this week!
Not every theme lends itself to featuring the whole cast. It depends on whether I feel there are enough interesting costumes to go around. For Tron, I only went with the main characters and chose not to do anything from Tron Legacy. I found that apart from the circuitry designs on the bodysuits, the characters pretty much looked the same. With Star Trek, there are several series and movies to pick from, so I was able to find something for everybody. The first four will go up this Wednesday and the remaining four will follow next week.
Frank suggested I try my hand at Bond villains. I’m not a big James Bond buff, and I’m not sure that there’s much to be done there, but I’ll look into it for a possible future installment. If anybody else has ideas for future mash-ups, be sure to share them with me, either in the comments section or by email!
That’s it for next week. Tune in next week when I’ll write more stuff about stuff. It promises to be text of some sort!
