Hello folks! It’s Monday, and to paraphrase Travis Willingham on Critical Role, “I would like to blog.”
I survived my last day of overtime on Saturday! All told it wasn’t too bad, but the fatigue is starting to grow so it’s nice that I’m done. I’ll be receiving a nice bonus cheque at some point in the near future.
I don’t know if this has been the common schedule set by Disney, but our local theatre is having the Episode VII premiere on Thursday at 7pm instead of at midnight as is usual for these crazy big releases. I certainly won’t complain as it opens up the option to see the movie on opening night because really, attending a midnight showing just wasn’t going to happen.
I still have next to no Christmas shopping done. So far I’ve placed the internet orders for the items I estimate will require the longest shipping delay. Both have shipped so I’m keeping positive thoughts that they’ll get here on time. Neither is for a gift I’m giving on Christmas Day proper so they have a few extra days to get here.
A new mash-up theme begins this week. Be sure to check out what nutty idea I came up with on Wednesday.
I’m still digging DDO. It’s getting to be a little more work getting to new quests, especially ones that I can run solo. I’m still doing all new material but I have to area-hop a lot more to get to them. Generally speaking, the quest has to be a level or two below my character level for me to have a chance at surviving. I finally got through the 9th level quest that was giving me so much trouble over the weekend (now that I’m level 14). The final boss was cake compared to the fight that came before it with the beyonder, warrior and mage trio. For some reason, the fighter came forward to fight me without the other two so I was able to take him out relatively painlessly and then just fight the beyonder and the mage. Even then it was tough going. I also fought my first dragon on Sunday which was really cool. So on my list of “biggies” I’ve tackled beyonders, mind-flayers, vampires, gorgons and now dragons. The beyonders are the worst so far. Level-loss is really nasty.
In other D&D news, we played some more Lords of Waterdeep. I’m loving this game. It might be my favorite board game at the moment. We also played Ghost Stories again…It’s incredibly frustrating though we did get a teeny bit closer this week. In our first game we got within two cards of getting the big bad to come out. We got soundly thrashed in the second and came within one card of getting the big bad to come out in the third. This was only after a few “take-backs” to give ourselves a chance. Maybe as we play more we won’t need them, but gosh is it hard!
That’s all for this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.
