Hello peoples! It is time for the showing of the mash-ups! This week we start a spooooooky Hallowe’en theme!

I kinda sorta remember reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. I’ve never seen any of the movies based on the book. The story and the classic movie’s visuals have infiltrated the culture. If you say the name Frankenstein, most people immediately think of the monster Boris Karloff played on the screen. Even though Frankenstein is the doctor’s name. His creation is just the monster. The lab assistant, commonly named Igor, wasn’t in the original book. He was a later addition in stage and movie adaptations.

So here we have the trio of Dr. Frankenstein, his lab assistant, Igor, and the monster, played by Cyran, Skitter and Barnaby respectively. Barnaby was a natural fit to play the monster, though I suppose it could have been humorous to switch Barnaby and Skitter’s roles. I haven’t mentioned it in a while, but you can click on the pictures to see closeups.

Here are some closer looks to the individual pieces, starting with Cyran as Dr. Frankenstein. I really dig this one. And I feel the electricity effect came out well.

Skitter as Igor. The costume is based on the costume Marty Feldman work in Young Frankenstein.

And Barnaby as the monster. The green tinge on the fur worked out FAIRLY well. It was something I wanted to try.

That’s all for this week. More spooky fun next Wednesday!

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians out there. It’s blog time.

This week’s song lyric title is from a song called “Seven Long Years” which seemed a propos in a way considering that yesterday marked seven years I’ve been doing this. There have been days that felt longer than others and more than one weekend where I told myself, maybe I could just skip this one time. It’s what I have a buffer for after all. But I set myself down and I get the work done. Two new strips are added to the cue and I’m always glad I did it. I can count on one hand the number of actual weeks I skipped and they were because I was going out for the weekend. Most of the time though, I managed to produce extra content in the week prior to compensate so I really haven’t missed much. I’m proud of the work I’ve done so far.

I don’t know how many more years I have in me, but there are still stories to tell. This Wing Camp story is something I came up with years ago while working on the Finding Skitter story line and I’m just getting to it now. I think I’m drawing nearer to a close on it. I shouldn’t have enough strips left to overtake the To Derp or Not to Derp storyline for second longest (97 strips). I’m at 69 strips now (57 strips have gone up so far) and I got to the big gag I had in mind all along in number 65. The training camp will continue in the background as I move on to a new story after the new Mouse Wingers go out on their first flight.

So last Monday I said that the X-Men flashbacks would be coming up after I finish the plain set (that concludes Friday with Chae). But it occurred to me on Thursday that Hallowe’en is coming up and I have yet to do a set for that. And so I came with some ideas that will start showing on Wednesday. The X-Men will follow when I’m done. I’m getting to it late so rather than continue on way after Hallowe’en has come and gone (like I did with the Christmas flashbacks), I’m going to do like I used to way back when and release a few at a time. I went into overdrive yesterday and today and I have two pieces done and two more with just shading left to do.  That’s the beauty of a long weekend for you. I’m going to try to get the set done with the last pieces posted on October 31st. I’ve written it here so now I have to try to live up to it.

In other news, I’ve been playing a TON of Slay the Spire on Steam. It’s really quite addictive. I’ve managed to get Ascension Level 4 with one character and Level 3 with the other two. They have over ten levels to unlock which I think is insane. So much has to go right that I don’t know if it’s achievable. Time will tell as I’m still itching to play.

Our Star Wars RPG campaign is progressing. I finally have my party together in one place. Now we can get to the real story.

That’s all for this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.

Hey there. It’s time for a mash-up. I thought I was going to do one thing, then I decided to do another and so I’ll go back to the original plan for today.

Here’s Skitter. Is he not the most adorable of my characters? I think so.

There’s no comparison as Skitter hadn’t been introduced yet when I did the first set. So that’s all for this week. Have a good weekend!
