Hello and welcome to another Wednesday Mash-up (on Wednesday!) Let’s get to it!

Tbe Metal Gear franchise started out on the original Nintendo Entertainment System, but it was Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation that really catapulted the franchise’s popularity. I have never once played any game in the franchise. I just picked it because it’s a popular game that I thought folks might recognize.

Here’s Big Oonch as Solid Snake. I really had to cheat with his proportions for the costume to work. I’m not super happy with the way the piece turned out. It’s okay, but I’ve definitely done better. That’s why I pushed it ahead in the queue to get it out of the way.

Metal Gear Solid

That’s all for this week. Which video game franchise will be featured next? You’ll have to come back next week to find out!

Another Wednesday and another installment (on time) of the Wednesday Mash-up! Good times.

It’s strange, I always thought Kid Icarus was a bigger video game franchise than it actually was. There haven’t been that many games in the series. Maybe it’s because it was featured in that Captain N cartoon, I must have figured that it was a big deal.

Here’s Zoë as Pit (why wasn’t his name Icarus?). She got the role because of the wings really. The feathers are always a challenge. Here they turned out okay-ish. I’m not super happy with the sandals, but the rest is pretty good (for me).

That’s all for this week. Another classic franchise will be coming your way next Wednesday. Come back to see who it is!

Hello games fans! It’s time for another mash-up on Wednesdays (and on time again too). So let’s get right into it.

Metroid was HARD! It was one of those games that I wasn’t very good at and I always got lost because I couldn’t be bothered mapping out the various screens and I had a terrible memory for them. I’d just wander around aimlessly trying not to die long enough to accomplish SOMETHING. I was not successful. Because of this I never got into any of the sequels.

Here’s Deema as Samus. I started with her sans helmet, but because I really equate Samus with the helmet, I did a version with it on as well.

Samus1Samus

That’s all for this week. Zoë’s up next time. Which game will she be covering? Come back and see!

It’s Wednesday and I’m remembering to post this week’s mash-up! What a concept!

Legend of Zelda is definitely one of the more well-known video game franchises out there, on par with Super Mario Bros. However, I never got really into the series. I rented the first two games when they came out, because that’s what you did back then, but I didn’t revisit the franchise except for one summer I spend a week at my dad’s and the one game he owned was the first Legend of Zelda. Bored during the day, I played through the game with relative ease which was surprising since I’d found it difficult when it first came out. The subsequent games have apparently been amazing, but I never jumped back in for some reason or another.

Here’s Nektara as Link. I drew the shield a little small so something seems off about her left arm. Still learning.

Link

That’s all for this week. Deema is coming up next time. Which video game franchise will she be representing? You’ll have to come back and see.

It’s Thursday. Twice yesterday, I sat down at the computer telling myself I needed to post this week’s mash-up and somehow…I didn’t. I don’t know what to say. Anyway, let’s get to it.

I’ve been playing video games most of my life. It started with our Intellivision system and I stayed with that system a LONG time, even after the Nintendo Entertainment System came out. The NES was sweet but we couldn’t afford one. Finally, we did manage to buy one and of course, the most important game to own was the one that came with the machine, Super Mario Bros. I spent many an hour playing that game but I never managed to finish it. That last level was just too much for me. I never got into another Mario game as much as the original either.

Barnaby is pretty tall to be playing Mario, but this is the role he ended up with. He’s used to wearing overalls so it was an easy costume for him. It worked out pretty well.

That’s all for this week. Which video game franchise will I cover next? Find out next week (hopefully Wednesday)!
