It’s Flashback Time again, it being Friday and all. Let us see what pops up…though if you’ve read the title you already know what’s coming and if you’ve noticed the preview picture then you’ve also seen what’s coming. Let’s not these truthful truths stop us from having some flashback fun.

Here’s the Big Oonch in his space suit out for a space walk. What an awful lot of glare on his helmet huh? And right over his eyes too! I mean, what are the odds that the one time he’s not wearing ANYTHING to cover his eyes that there would be so much localized glare?

Here’s a comparison to the original. That original pose was so goofy. And his arms were super long! The proportions are much better in the new piece as should be expected.

That’s all for this week. More fun in the space age to follow next Friday!

Well a Friday has come and gone and somehow I completely spaced out on posting this week’s flashback. How appropriate what with the theme being space and all. Yes. That’s totally why I did it.

Here’s Deema in her alien queen costume. That helmet was something else. For the design to work I had to give her huge shoulder armor. I think the glass effect worked really well here. It’s possibly my favorite piece of the set.

Here’s a comparison to the original. I have Deema much more human proportions the first time around. Her head isn’t nearly as large as it is today. It was much more difficult redesigning this costume than I had figured.

That’s all for this week. More space age adventures next week.

Friday already?! or At last Friday!! Both apply, but more so the latter. Here’s a mash-up to celebrate.

It’s Todrick in his pilot suit this week. Of course I had to cheat and make the helmet much smaller than his head so that he could reasonably carry it.

Here’s a comparison to the original piece. The biggest improvement to Todrick’s design is clearly the ears. I’ve also worked to bring the tail closer to his body so that it looks more like it could actually be attached to his back.

That’s all for this week. More space age fun next Friday!

Hello Flashback Fans. It’s time.

Here’s Cyran about to do some repairs outside his spacecraft. The most difficult thing to get right was him reaching out for that handle. It took a lot of tries with different angles for the handle to get it looking halfway acceptable. Cyran hasn’t been drawn with his orange backpack since his time in Horvath’s camp, but this spacesuit inverts his original colour scheme using my two favorite colours (orange and purple). I wish I could nail drawing circles starting from any start position. It would have been easier to hide the merging of the brush stroke if it had been where the helmet connects to this body. (A lot) more practice required.

Here’s a comparison to the original. This is a huge upgrade all around as Cyran was probably the weakest piece of that original set. The proportions work better and the folding of his ears inside the helmet looks much more natural. The simple change of changing his goggles and belt from brown to black looks better as well.

That’s all for this week. More space age adventures next week.

It’s the best kind of deja vu. It’s flashback time!

Here’s Nektara in her space age commander’s uniform. I don’t know why, but I seem to like this combination of blue and pink. They’re the colours I chose to paint my Eldar army in Warhammer 40K for that brief period where I thought I wanted to paint an army.

Here’s the comparison to the original. She sure did slim up from those days huh? As I’ve refined the character’s looks, her head got bigger and her body got smaller.

That’s all for this week. A new flashback next Friday!
