Oh no! It’s already Monday! Fortunately it’s almost Tuesday. But I hate Tuesday! Gahh! Let’s savor Monday I guess.

So there’s a bridge that separates the south part of the city from the central part. It’s under construction. The trip from my place to Les Dés Truqués goes across this bridge and normally takes from five to ten minutes by bus. A quick jaunt. The construction over the weekend made it so the bus couldn’t pass through in a timely fashion. So we went the long way around and down through Grand’Mere (another part of the city to the north). So what should have been a five minute trip was more like an hour and five minutes trip. Thank goodness I had my phone to keep me entertained. A book would have done the trick too…had I known to bring one.

We started a new campaign game: Aeon’s End: Legacy. It’s started out a LOT easier than the standard game of Aeon’s End normally is. We breezed through the first two chapters. In a legacy game, things evolve as you play. You add stickers and “destroy” bits you’ll no longer use. So our characters are all blank slates. We even get to name them and all their abilities. I took this huge bearded guy who’s got this portable battering ram as a weapon. I thought a nifty name for him would be Brahms and his beat stick would be the Lullaby (he puts you to sleep with it). But one of the main NPCs is named Brama and that was just too close to Brahms. So I changed my character’s name to Chopin. The Lullaby isn’t nearly as clever of a name, but I kept it anyway. I’m going with a musical theme for all his powers. The next power I named Requiem. I’m amusing myself.

I started work on the next theme for mash-ups. I would have gone with Cardcaptor Sakura, but I didn’t want to go straight to another anime theme right away. I had a hard time thinking of something new to do. I came across an ad for Final Fantasy games and thought I could tackle another game in the series. I’ve already done my favorite (IX) so it’s time for my next favorite, Final Fantasy VI, or III as it was known in North America when it was released. I’ve drawn the first piece and it’s…okay. I think I’ll get better as I go.

Hey it’s Monday!

So I’m in the middle of this story arc that features Big Oonch and it dawns on me how hard it is to write Oonch’s dialogue. I committed long ago to the gag that he speaks as though he’s constantly narrating his life. It works well enough in short doses, less so as the main character in a story line. His lines are longer as a result and I’m already wordy to begin with. In a medium where space is at a premium, long lines can be problematic. We’ll see how things go as the story develops. Maybe Oonch will evolve a bit.

I talked about diving into the rabbit hole last week. I bought a booster of the Cardcaptor Sakura expansion of Weiss Schwarz. I’d heard tell of the rarity system and it worried me. As it turns out though, the really rare cards all seem to be variants of the cards in the main set. One booster box netted me 88 of the 100 base cards and I can do without the variants, so this won’t be so bad after all. I can get the cards I’m missing for less than the price of another booster box. Problem solved. Woot!

In other gaming news, we lost the final game in our Too Many Bones campaign. We didn’t even make it to the final battle. The campaign card we drew for the adventure didn’t leave us a very big margin for error. We lost one battle and the next day’s even didn’t offer us the opportunity to gain a progress point so that was it. It was a really disappointing way to end things. Oh well. On to another campaign!
