The mash-ups are back! The mash-ups are back! It’s a cause for celebration, or at least a little mirth. Let’s get to being mirthful.

Vitalstatistix is the village chieftain. He’s a little pompous but with a good heart and is usually able to inspire courage. He’s almost always carried around on a shield by two village warriors. A recurring gag has him falling of the shield for various reasons (usually caused by his shield bearers).

Todrick was chosen to play this vital role. Who wouldn’t want a cunning fox as a leader? I had to cheat for the helmet because Todrick’s ears are just too big. As always, click on the picture to enlarge it.

That’s all for this week. More Asterix fun next Wednesday. Don’t you dare miss it!

Hello Wednesday Mash-up followers. It’s that time again. Let us begin.

Cacophonix is the village’s bard. He has a…distinctive singing voice. Almost every adventure ends with Cacophonix tied up and gagged to keep him from ruining the victory banquet with his singing. He often states that the other villagers lack culture and are barbarians, but he stays with them all the same. And if he’s threatened by an outsider, the villagers will rally to support him.

Red Rich was the only character with enough flair to play Cacophonix. As always, you can click on the picture to enlarge it.

That’s all for this week. Next week, we’ll be taking a look at the village chief. Don’t you dare miss it! 😉

Hey-hey! It’s Canada Day and I’m off from work so I’m a little late again in posting this week’s mash-up. Next Wednesday I’ll be working so the mash-up will be up at its usual time.

I led with the French name because it’s the one I grew up with, but here I’ll use the English name, because…I’m writing in English. Getafix is the druid who brewed the magic potion that gives the Gauls the superhuman strength required to resist the Roman invaders. He’s a wise old man who frequently gives Asterix counsel (and a canteen of magic potion) before he goes out on an adventure.

Wise old man? That sounds like a role for Diggle, right? Of course! So Diggle gets his first mash-up this week. Diggle fans rejoice! Fun stuff to draw. As always, you can click on the picture to enlarge it.

Panoramix

That’s all for this week. Next week will be a harmonious affair. Find out what that means (Asterix fans can probably figure it out) next Wednesday! See you then!

Hey it’s Wednesday! I almost forgot. I have a day off today and it feels like a weekend, even though I have to go back to work tomorrow. Anyway, let’s get to today’s mash-up!

Julius Caesar is of course, the leader of the Roman Empire that conquered Gaul. All of it? No, there’s one village that continues to resist the Romans and it irks Caesar to no end. He’s continually hatching schemes to try to complete his conquest.

So I chose Big Oonch to play Caesar. I thought the laurels would be an interesting way to hide his eyes. What do you all think?

That’s all for this week. Next week, we’ll take a look at the brewer of the Gaul’s magic potion. See you then!

Hello folks. It’s Wednesday and Wednesday means mash-ups, so let’s mash it up!

Talking about Asterix last week made me want to dig out my albums and start reading, so Saturday night I reread Astérix et les Goths and Astérix en Corse. Why those two? They were on top of the pile! I’ll no doubt be rereading more in the days to come. For now though, let’s go on to this week’s showcase. As always, click on the picture to enlarge it.

Could you think of anybody better to dress up as powerhouse Obelix than Barnaby? I couldn’t. So here’s Barnaby as Obelix. I think this one turned out even better than last week’s Cyran as Asterix.

Obelix

That’s all for this week. Next week we meet the leader of the Roman Empire. Who gets to wear the laurels? Find out next Wednesday!
