It’s Friday! I’m about to leave for Comiccon in a little over an hour but I couldn’t go without posting this week’s Flashback, right? Right! Let’s do this!

If I were a little better in planning ahead, I’d have had a comic-themed flashback for today. Well, G.I.JOE has a comic book, but you know what I mean…or do you? I think I’m babbling which is a solid sign I should just move on. Remember, all the pictures are clickable, so you know…click them.

Red Rich is here as Zartan. For once, Rich decided that changing the colour of his mask isn’t an adequate disguise so he added a stick-on beard. The yellow mask does look sharp though.

Zartan

Here’s the action figure card. Originally Zartan was sold in a box with his Water Chameleon. I did some searching and found a card. I don’t recall ever seeing him sold this way back in the day though.

Here’s the comparison to the original mash-up. The first time around, I didn’t like that Zartan’s card art pose meant that you couldn’t see most of his costume so I went with a page from the comic book. I really wanted to replicate the cards this time around so you don’t get to see much of his chest plate.

That’s all for this week folks! Have a great weekend! I know I should!

Good Wednesday to you all! It is a day of mashing and upping, mash-upping even! Let us begin!

The Guardians of the Galaxy theme continues this week as it will for the next few weeks. Have I mentioned how much I loved the movie?

Todrick is here as Drax the Destroyer, who was played by Dave Bautista, a professional wrestler. As much as I like wrestling, I can’t say I’ve ever been a big Batista (his wrestling name) fan and his casting worried me. I know he had the right look, but I was unconvinced about his acting chops. Well he turned out great. In fact, I really enjoyed Bautista’s performance. Drax’s elaborate tattoos caused me all kinds of problems. I tried to replicate the actual movie designs but was never satisfied with the result. Finally, I had to give up and just go with abstract geometric designs. As always, you can click on the picture to make it bigger. That way you can better see all the intricate buckles on his pants.

Drax

So that’s all for this week. Next week’s character only knows three words. Who is it and who will be playing him? That’s a secret until next Wednesday!

Good morning folks. It’s Friday and I’m going to work. That hasn’t been true since June and I’m telling you, it’s rough, man. Oh well! Let’s power through the day. What better way to start than with a flashback?

It’s Marvel AND Big Oonch week this week. We had Big Oonch as Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy on Wednesday and we’re concluding with Big Oonch as Thor from the Avengers on Friday.

Okay, so actually, I went with the costume from The Dark World for Thor this time around, just to be a little different. He’s a little ganglier than I intended, but I still think he turned out nice.

That’s all for this week. Kitty (Cobra) returns next week. I’m always curious to see your guesses on who’ll be playing who below in the comments.

Welcome to the Wednesday Mash-up! I have a lot of fun drawing these. I hope you all enjoy them as well.

It was about a week or two before the Guardians of the Galaxy movie’s release that I realized I should have been doing Guardians mash-ups. I was still finishing up the Power Rangers mash-ups though and I don’t like interrupting a theme all that much.So I waited. Guardians is a proven hit and I loved it (I went to see it three times while it was at my local theatre). Here now, at last we begin the movie mash-ups!

Big Oonch missed out on being a Power Ranger so I wanted to give him a chance at being one of the Guardians. Here he is as Star-Lord. Lots of detail-work in this costume. You can click on the picture to enlarge it and take a closer look.

Next week, prepare to be destroyed by Drax! Any guesses on who will be dressing up?

Good morning Flashback Friday Fans! How do I know you’re fans? Well you’re here aren’t you? Sure you could have just followed some random link to end up here, but I prefer to think you’re all fans so don’t take that away from me! 🙂

Rumor has it that the Dark Side has cookies and I think that’s what attracted a young fox to become Darth Todrick. If only he’d had a conversation with Cookie Monster who recently debunked the myth. Anyway, here’s the reimagining of Todrick as Darth Vader. One thing about colouring with blacks is that I have to use varying shades of black throughout the costume and then when I shade them, they all turn out looking pretty similar which makes me wonder why I bothered. It’s really the shading that sells the different materials anyway. As always click on a picture to enlarge it.

So this week we have a Dark Lord, but next week, we have a GOD! Who is it? Come back next Friday to find out! Write in your guesses in the comments!
