Welcome to the Wednesday Mash-up! Time to have some fun!

Asterix is a series of French comics created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. The titular character is a member of a tribe of Gauls who resist the Roman invasion with the help of a magic potion that gives them superhuman strength. He’s the canniest Gaul and often plays straight man in the face the wacky hi-jinx of his fellow Gauls, and more specifically of his best friend, simpleton strong-man, Obelix. Asterix is my favorite French comic and I believe it is the main reason that most every French person I know mispronounces the word “asterisk”. Lots of great puns in the names in this one.

Asterix is a short guy and so it made perfect sense for Cyran to portray him. Not to mention Cyran’s ears do a good job of simulating the wings on Asterix’s helmet. Uderzo didn’t use a lot of shading in the comics, so I chose to leave this set of mash-ups with solid colours. As always, you can click on the picture to see a close-up.

Next week, we’ll be taking a look at Asterix’s aforementioned best friend, Obelix. You can see the reveal next Wednesday!

Greetings Animus-fans! Welcome to the Wednesday Mash-up, where I promise that it’s Wednesday (as I write this) and that there will be a mash-up somewhere in this post. Will it be after the third paragraph? Maaaaaaaybe.

This is the final week of Rebels mash-ups. It’s been quite the ride these past eleven weeks, adapting a new set of costumes to the anatomy of my characters. Some have worked really well. Others, sadly not so much. As always, click on the picture to see a closeup.

It’s sad that I’m closing on a piece that simply isn’t as strong as the others in the set. I had a big problem figuring out what to do with Big Oonch. I came close on several occasions to cutting Oonch out of the set, but I really wanted to do something for the whole cast. I’d already gone through all the main characters and a couple of the more unique designs of lesser characters. Vizago was the only character left in my mind…but try as I might, I couldn’t figure out a really good way to hide Oonch’s eyes. I thought I might do something with Vizago’s horns, but it just came off as creepy. Finally, I gave him the prosthetic brow that kinda casts a shadow over his eyes. Oh well.

That’s all for this week. Next week, it’s time for a new theme to begin. Come back next Wednesday for the reveal!

Hello! Is it Mash-ups you’re looking for? Of course it is! You’ve come to the right place of course!

We’re in the final stretch of the Rebels theme. Just three more to go including this week. As always, click on a picture to see a close-up of it.

We’ve reached the point where I had to look at some of the more minor characters in the show. Imperial Minister Maketh Tua only appears in a couple of episodes. I felt it was a uniform that worked well on Chae.

Minister-Chae

That’s all for this week. Skitter shows off his Rebels threads next week. See you next Wednesday for the reveal!

Hey there everybody! I got my new modem today so I can post again! Just in time for a new mash-up!

We’ve got some more Rebels content this week. As always, if you do the clicking thing on the picture thing, then you’ll be able to see the picture thing in biggerness.

Ahsoka Tano has been featured in the trailers for Rebels Season 2, so it’s not a spoiler that she’s in the show. What would be a spoiler is to say how she was introduced in the show, which I won’t do. Watch Season 1 to find out! Here, Zoë is dressed up as Ahsoka. I’m not certain this was the outfit she wore when she appeared in Rebels or if it’s something from Clone Wars.

That’s all for this week. See you next Wednesday for a new Rebels mash-up!
