Wednesday is winding down and I’m just now putting up this week’s mash-up. I was under the weather and slept through most of the day. Sorry about that.

Peanuts has been a big part of my life since I was a kid and Miss Rudis allowed me to read her Peanuts Parade volumes in elementary school. I can’t exactly say what it was that I saw in the strip way back then but I was hooked. I went through a BIG Peanuts phase in high school. I would doodle Peanuts characters all the time. Charles Schulz hugely influences my drawing style. It’s taken me so long to doing a Peanuts set of mash-ups because I wasn’t convinced how it would work out. Well now we’re about to find out.

Character-wise it was clear that Cyran had to be Charlie Brown. He has that downtrodden thing going for him. The design here is clean so I’m satisfied with it. I just really struggled with the shoes for some reason.

Charlie Brown

That’s all for this week. Come back next week for some more Peanuts fun.

I was about to post this week’s mash-up last Wednesday when I remembered that the hint I’d given the week before was for the ThunderCats mash-up. So this week’s post was done a week in advance!

The Visionaries was the name of Rick Martel’s team for the 1990 Survivor Series, it featured…no wait, that’s the wrong write-up. Visionaries was a toy line from Hasbro that featured action figures with hologram stickers that represented magical totems that burst forth from the characters’ armor/staffs/vehicles. It was a toy line that I got surprisingly deep into with several figures and TWO! vehicles (unusual for me given how much more expensive vehicles tend to be). I loved the design of the Lancer Cycle. They were similarly articulated to G.I.Joe figures but in a slightly larger scale.  I enjoyed playing out wrestling matches with them because I could really get them into some nice lock-up poses. I couldn’t have really told you much about the story behind the toys at the time but it featured the heroic Spectral Knights fighting against the Darkling Lords on the faraway world of Prysmos where technology had failed and humanity had to rely on the power of magic.

Here’s Cyran dressed up in Ectar’s armor. Ectar was the Light Cycle’s driver, which is why I remember him the most even though Leoric was the leader of the Spectral Knights. Ectar’s totem was a fox, so Todrick gets to make a cameo as Ectar’s ‘hologram’. As always, click on the picture to enlarge it.

That’s all for this week. Next week, is the final post of the series and it promises to be a powerful installment. See you next Wednesday for the reveal.
