Hello and good Wednesday to you Mash-up fans. Let’s get to the fun.

As far as I can remember, I have never played a fighter in D&D. It’s probably the least interesting class to me. Yet every party needs a big bruiser who can run up in front and soak up damage to keep the enemies at bay so that the archers and spell-casters can pepper them with projectiles and spells. The positive is they can use pretty much any weapon or wear any armor.

Here’s Chae geared up as a fighter. I figure if any class could really wield a spade-spear, it’d be a fighter.

Fighter

That’s all for this week. Will next week be another martial class or will it be a spell-caster? Find out next Wednesday!

Hello and good Wednesday to you (and it’s actually Wednesday! Woo Woo!) Let’s get right to brass tacks.

So Barbarians. They’re not just for Conan anymore. It seemed like a natural fit for Barnaby. I’m taking a similar path with these mash-ups as I did with the Steampunk mash-ups: Find different pictures I like and take elements from each to build a new costume. Check out the stains on his loin cloth. He’s a messy eater.

That’s all for this week. More fantasy fun next week. See you next Wednesday!

Another missed deadline. I don’t know what’s happening. Sometimes I click Publish and it stalls (like Tuesday’s French comic) and others I just plain forget (like this post). Oh well. Better nate than lever.

BB-8 is Poe Dameron’s plucky droid navigator and companion. He’s entrusted with valuable information by Poe shortly before Poe gets captured by the First Order. The second great droid chase of the Saga is on! Where R2-D2’s vocals were said to be inspired by babies talking, BB-8 takes it to a new level and he’s adorable. I fully expected to roll my eyes at this gimmicky droid character, but I really like him. He’s supplanted both R2 and 3PO as my favorite droid character from the movies, though I still like Chopper from Rebels a great deal.

When I was first laying out this theme, I didn’t think I’d be able to include BB-8. His design is so unconventional I didn’t know how I could do something with it. But as I was finishing up with Skitter, I couldn’t think of another character to feature. I was already plumbing the depths with Ackbar (who I love but really he’s such an incidental character in the movie). I then came up with this idea for BB-8 and I think it’s my favorite.

BB-8

That’s all for this week and this theme. Next week, something new. Come back to see the reveal. I’ll try to post it on time.

Hello and welcome to a special I Forgot to Post This on Wednesday So It’s Going Up On Thursday Mash-up. That’s a mouthful of a title huh? Let’s get to it.

I don’t know how much of the old Star Wars expanded universe carried over. In the original, Ackbar helped lead Project Shantipole which led to the creation of the B-Wing fighter. In Star Wars Rebels, which is canon, a crazy old Mon Calamari (not named Ackbar) designed the ship. By the end of the episode, he goes on to work on the ship some more, so it’s entirely possible that Ackbar became involved later. Why am I saying all this instead of talking about Ackbar’s role in The Force Awakens? Because Ackbar doesn’t really have a role in the movie and I wanted to have SOMETHING to talk about. He has one line in the Resistance tactical briefing leading to the attack on Starkiller Base.

Here’s Chae dressed as Admiral Ackbar, or any Resistance officer really. It’s not the most inspired uniform, but it fits the designs from previous movies.

Ackbar

One last Force Awakens mash-up remains and I think it’s the neatest one of all. Come back next Wednesday (or whatever day I end up posting it) for the reveal.

What’s the best way to close a Wednesday out? The same way that it should have begun. With a mash-up!

After the Empire’s final defeat at the Battle of Jakku, the Imperial remnants retreated to the far reaches of the galaxy to rebuild their forces and eventually emerged as the First Order. To protect the New Republic, Leia Organa chose to operate outside the law and formed the Resistance. She commands the Resistance forces as their general. She sends Poe Dameron to Jakku to find information that will lead her to Luke, who has gone into hiding.

Here’s Cyran, once again taking on the mantle of Leia Organa. It’s a pretty simple costume, so there’s nothing really flashy to set this picture apart. I think it’s the first time I’ve given a character a thumb though so there’s that.

Leia

That’s all for this week. Two more Force Awakens mash-ups to go. Come back next Wednesday to see who’s next.
