You know it’s not Thursday anymore when you check the site and see there’s a new flashback up. That’s Friday territory right there.

This week, Nektara is back as the Bearoness. Such a great pun don’t you agree? As always, click on a picture to enlarge it.

I’ve got a rough schedule set for which flashbacks I have left to do. It turns out I had some catching up to do on G.I.Joe/Cobra, so there’s going to be a few more showing up in the next couple of weeks. Next week, Cyran is back as Tripwire!

Ranma 1/2 – Akane Tendo

I like Wednesday. It’s a good day. Especially every other Wednesday because I get paid. Something good that’s EVERY Wednesday is mashup time. So yeah, it’s that time! First though:

Ranma 1/2 is an anime that is aimed at an older audience. The mash-ups featured here are 100% safe for children of all ages, but parental discretion is advised before viewing the anime or reading the manga with children.

It’s Ranma again this week. Today we have Nektara as Akane Tendo. Akane is the youngest of Soun Tendo’s three daughters. She’s a skilled martial artist and that’s one of the reasons she’s chosen to be Ranma’s fiancée, Not that she’s happy about it. She’s really a good person except she has a fierce temper. One other warning: she cannot cook. We’re talking Deema levels of bad food here! Akane is most likely who I was thinking of when the idea for Deema being a bad cook came to mind. To continue the trend for this set, I’ve included an “anime-face” version as well. If taken alone, the eyes look good, but on my characters there’s just something off. Teen Titans – Group Picture

Here’s the group picture of the Animus cast dressed up as the Teen Titans. People who showed up at Zone 51 on Free Comic Book Day were able to walk away with a free postcard of this picture.

The observant amongst you will have noticed that Nektara is looking in the opposite direction here than she was in her picture by herself. The original way made it look like she was looking totally elsewhere than the rest of the crew. Those of you who aren’t observant will have noticed because I just told you.

For comparative purposes, here’s the picture of the real Teen Titans that I based this shot on. For those wondering, Nektara’s hood is down because I wanted her face to be visible. I don’t think the picture would have turned out well if I had drawn the hood up anyway.

Teen Titans – Raven

It’s Wednesday and you’ve all been very good this week so it’s time for your ol’ pal Carja to bring you a new mash-up. Enjoy.

When there’s trouble, you know who to call – TEEN TITANS!

That’s about as clear a lead-in as I can give. I love Teen Titans. I feel it was one of the better cartoons to come out of the 2000s. The first season is over ten years old. Wow! It feels like I was just watching it for the first time a year or two ago.

Anyhoo, here’s Nektara as Raven. Raven usually has the hood up, but I didn’t think I’d be able to really show that it was Nektara under the hood, so I chose to go with the hood down. For this series, I decided to use what I call animation-style shading. It’s very minimal, but I think it’s effective.

Flashback Friday – Black Widow

The date is Friday. Actually, it’s Thursday but this won’t be posted until tomorrow when it will in fact, be Friday, a day of flashbacks.

Captain America is coming out this weekend and I’m doing a Marvel flashback. It’s almost like I planned this. Now if I had planned this WELL, I’d have done my Captain America flashback. But hey, Black Widow is in the movie so it still works! As always, click on a picture if you wanna enlarge it.

Finding the right pose is always a challenge. I don’t want the characters to just be standing there, but I want the details of the costume to be mostly visible. I went through a lot of Black Widow pictures (Scarlett Johansen is pretty) and finally settled on one where she was in a sort of martial arts battle stance. I just turned it a little so that we can see Nektara’s face.
