Wednesday isn’t pronounced like it’s spelled but I’m sure you’d noticed that already. Just making small talk before the mash-up!

I’ve said it before (maybe not here), and I’ll say it again (here): I really like the Rocketeer. That’s all the reason I need to make a mash-up of him, right? Right!

I picked Red Rich to play the Rocketeer because he’s the only cast member with rocket pack flying experience. That goes a long way. Why did I go for a shot where he’s not wearing the helmet OR the rocket pack? Well, I learned that when it comes to helmets, if they cover the face, then I may as well forget calling it a mash-up because other than the tail (in some cases), you can’t tell who’s wearing it. As for the rocket pack, unless I draw an over the shoulder shot (like I did for Bunwick a few weeks ago), you’re just not going to see much of it. With that in mind, my first sketch did have Red Rich holding the helmet under one of his arms and wearing the rocket pack, but it felt too clunky so I started over with this pose where you could say that Red Rich is a fan dressed up as the Rocketeer getting his picture taken with the iconic helmet and rocket pack. I feel it’s a much better piece for it. As always, click on Red Rich to make with the bigness.

That’s it for this week! Next week will be something I’ve previewed on Facebook.

Is it mash-up time again? It would seem so! Let’s get to it then shall we?

Okay so this week I tried something a little more challenging than my usual fare as I chose Transformers as a theme. My original plan was to have three ready for Wednesday. Well, after three hours or so on Monday all I’d managed to produce was an unsatisfactory ink of my first sketch. Tired, I stopped and started again on Tuesday with a new ink opting this time to round the edges a little more as I didn’t like all the angles in the first ink. I liked the second one a little better so I coloured it.In all it’s taken me seven hours to finish this one piece! I have a whole new respect for the artists who draw Transformers comics because Six knows I wouldn’t have the patience for it. I thought I might do a full cast set of Autobots and then another full cast set of Decepticons. After just one piece, I’m not sure I want to even try another.

So here’s Optimus Rich, leader of the Auto-tinkers. For comparison, I’ve included the original sketch and the first and second inks. As always, click on a picture to enlarge it.

That’s all for this week! What will next Wednesday bring? Come back and find out!

Welcome back to the Wednesday Mash-ups.

I’m a little late again this week as I just finished a piece for this week’s installment. As promised, we have more Wakfu crossovers.

First we have Red Rich as Tristepan Percedal. I didn’t want to give him the wild spiked hair, so I chose to colour his ears orange.

And here’s Sass as Evangelyne. I was originally going to use Nektara, but her limbs are too short. Sass works much better for this kind of pose.

That’s all for this week folks. More ‘fu next time!

Wednesday. Mash-ups. Let’s do this!

Today we conclude our look at Li’l Animus. I think this round is the strongest of the three. I hope you agree. As always, click to embiggen.

First, we have Zoë taking a nap on her Popkin pillow. I originally had her climbing on top of a Popkin doll, but that way you hardly saw anything of Zoë, only her head, hands and feet. This concept worked much better in my view.

Next, we can see that even from a young age, Red Rich believed in colour-coordination. He also loved his blankie.

Finally, Deema appears ready for sleepies. It’s hard work being such a cutie!

That’s all for this week. New concept next time!
