It be that time of week again. Time for the Wednesday Mash-up! Enjoy folks!

This week a new theme starts. A theme with power, a theme with  range, a theme that does not err. That’s right. It’s morphin’ time! Did I get that last part right? At any rate, this week we start the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, or just the Power Rangers for short. For the record, I’ve never seen a complete episode of the show. I just thought some of you out there might enjoy the theme.

Who else to be the Red Ranger, but Red Rich? This was a tricky pose. I’m not satisfied with the way the legs turned out, but it was the best I could manage so they’ll have to do. I have no if I drew the right buckle for this specific costume, but it turns out you can’t really see the details anyway. No helmets because I learned with past mash-ups that there’s little use saying it’s a mash-up if you can’t see who’s wearing the costume, tail not withstanding. As always, click on the picture to enlarge it.

So that’s this week’s edition of the Wednesday Mash-up. Which Power Ranger will be next and who will be playing him or her? Find out next Wednesday!

It’s Wednesday. I went to bed 15 minutes earlier than usual last night and I woke up 15 minutes later than usual. So sleepy. What’ll wake me up? I know! A new mashup!

It’s always fun to unveil a new theme. This new theme has given me some pause. I’ll discuss why in next week’s blog. For now, let me just speak to the younger folks around. Ranma 1/2 is a series for older kids (teens and up). The mashups are safe (of course), but parental discretion is advised if you’re going to watch the show or read the manga.

Here’s Red Rich as the titular character from the series, Ranma Saotome. He’s a brash 16-year-old who’s training to be a formidable martial artist. While training in China, he triggered a strange curse. When doused with cold water, he turns into a girl. Only hot water will turn him back again. His brash behaviour attracts him a fair number of admirers but also rivals looking to defeat him. Oh, and his father’s a panda. I don’t really like giving wigs to the boys unless it’s really important to the mashup character’s look. I did give Rich the pigtail though.

Ranma

Since this is an anime theme, I decided to try something different this time. I’m drawing each character with “anime eyes”. It really changes the look.

J-Ranma

That’s all for this week. Come back next week to meet Ranma’s father, Genma. See you there!

Here’s the group picture of the Animus cast dressed up as the Teen Titans. People who showed up at Zone 51 on Free Comic Book Day were able to walk away with a free postcard of this picture.

The observant amongst you will have noticed that Nektara is looking in the opposite direction here than she was in her picture by herself. The original way made it look like she was looking totally elsewhere than the rest of the crew. Those of you who aren’t observant will have noticed because I just told you.

Teen-Titans

For comparative purposes, here’s the picture of the real Teen Titans that I based this shot on. For those wondering, Nektara’s hood is down because I wanted her face to be visible. I don’t think the picture would have turned out well if I had drawn the hood up anyway.
