Hi there mash-up fans! It’s that time that comes every 11 weeks or so, when I start a new mash-up theme! You know, it’s just hitting me as I write it that each theme goes that long. That means I only do five themes a year. If you don’t dig a theme, it’s MONTHS before you see a new one. Crazy.

I first caught the English dub of Cardcaptor Sakura, localized as Cardcaptors, back in 2000. It hooked me right away. I really dig the lore, the cards, Kero. All of it. I have the original series on DVD, a talking Kero plushie, a set of Clow cards, figures, two card games. Yeah, they got my money good on this one. I pretty much stopped buying DVDs so I probably won’t get the sequel series, Clear Card, but I did subscribe to a streaming service to be able to watch it. The anime caught up to the manga so I don’t know the resolution. I’m going to have to check that out now that I think about it.

Here’s Nektara as the titular Cardcaptor Sakura. Sakura gets a LOT of costumes. I think it’s close to one per episode. This is the one I think of first though when I think of the character so it’s the one I chose for the mash-up. As you can see, I’m going for some animation-style shading here that I’ve busted out for the anime themes (except Sailor Moon for some reason). I dig this one. It’s a good start and I’m hoping that means a solid set!

Mash-ups! More than meets the eye!

Hey! It’s Finegan’s first mash-up! All the other bandits have had their chance to shine. Tomaw and Crismus too. So as I thought of who I was going to use to balance out the Autobot/Decepticon ratio, I thought why not give Finegan a chance? The next decision was who to dress him up as. I looked over Shockwave and the idea of colouring Finegan’s nose yellow to act as Shockwave’s eye tickled me. The rest is as they say history.

That’s it! The Transformers are done! I haven’t decided what’s going to follow. I have less than a week to come up with something! Find out what I settled on next Wednesday!

Transformers – Omega Supreme

Happy Wednesday readers! I have another mash-up for you!

Omega Supreme was the biggest Transformer there was until he wasn’t. Here we have Barnaby playing the role, because you know…he’s the tallest.

Transformers – Blitzwing

Wednesdays are always right for mash-ups aren’t they? Good thing I have one ready!

Here’s Chae as the Decepticon triple-changer Blitzwing. I actually prefer Astrotrain, but his robot design is a little on the dull side, so I thought Blitzwing made a more interesting choice to draw and colour. The pose is very similar to what I did Zoë as Starscream. I guess this pose works well for robots that transform into jets.

That’s all for this week. There’s one more Transformers mash-up to go, unless I decide to pull in another character in to even out the sides. For sure, we have an Autobot coming next.

Time for a mash-up! Nothing clever to say this week.

Here’s our girl Sass as Arcee from Transformers the movie. I was really trying to figure out what different looking bots I could try and I figured why not go for one of the female Autobots? I really like this one. It’s competing with Starscream for my favorite of the set.
