Hello and good time part to you. It is that time of the week again so let us get to the fun, shall we?

I don’t know what it is about Mekaneck that I found so much fun. You twisted his waist and his neck extended. In elevating his head he could see farther away than others, making him a great scout. Spy, I don’t know. But it was the idea.

Big Oonch is Mekaneck. Last time, I cut and paste the head when I drew the neck extension. This time, I completely redrew the head so the dimensions aren’t quite the same.

Here’s the comparison to the original piece. Man…those arms.

And that’s all for this week. More Masters of the Universe next week.

It’s Friday morning, time to post a flashback up in this house! Ahem! Yes. Click on pictures. See them bigger. All that good stuff.

Beast Man is one of Skeletor’s most loyal minions. He has a mastery over beasts, from which he gets his name (not to mention a somewhat beast-like appearance). He had the added benefit of being molded in orange, which is my favorite colour, so he was one of my favorite figures even if he had no special features. In the cartoon, he was a dullard and never a real threat to He-Man. In the comics he was much more imposing.

Here’s Barnaby as Beast Bear. It’s Barnaby at his most fierce by gum!

Here’s the comparison to the original piece. Again, the original was decent, with mostly the shaky lines and spindly limbs dragging it down.

That’s it for this week. A new Master is revealed next Friday. Any guesses? Requests?

Hello Flashback Fans. It’s time. Let’s get to it! As always click on a picture to see a close-up.

Man-at-Arms, as his name suggests, is the weapon master and an advisor in King Randor’s court, an inventor who creates a lot of fabulous weapons and vehicles for the good guys in Masters of the Universe. He’s also Teela’s adoptive father. More importantly though, he’s also one of the few to know He-Man’s secret, that he’s really Prince Adam.

Here’s Deema as Man-at-Arms or rather, Lizard-at-Arms. I really like how the chest armor turned out here. It’s a good solid piece and the colouring really came out fine (and not just because she’s wearing my favourite colour, orange)!

And here’s the comparison to the older piece. Other than the shaky pen lines the original wasn’t too bad for the time. The limb proportions aren’t terribly off compared to some. The new one is of course a lot sharper.

That’s all for this week. More Masters of the Universe flashbacks to come every Friday! Have a great weekend!

It’s my last Friday off for a while. Let’s celebrate with the joining of flashback to website. As always, click on the pictures to embiggen them.

Skeletor has to be one of the cooler names to come out of Masters of the Universe. The expanded mythology gives him a pretty nifty backstory. It turns out that he’s actually Prince Adam’s uncle Keldor who was seduced by the power of the Dark Si–err Hordak.

Here’s Sass as Skeletor. She’s still wearing the blue body suit with the skeleton mask, but this time, she applied blue make up to her tail, paws and face. I really like the blue lightning effect on this one. EDIT: I really had a problem with how short I drew the fringes of Skeletor’s shoulder armor. I’ve therefore decided to redraw them and have added the revised picture next to the original.

Here’s the comparison to the original. The new version lost the cape. I’m not exactly sure why I gave her a cape in the first place as it isn’t something that’s normally associated with Skeletor. The biggest improvement is again the limbs are better proportioned.

And that’s all for this week. Come back next week for a new hero flashback. Have a great weekend!

Hello there Fans of the Flashback and other perusers. It’s Friday and time for the first installment of the return of the Flashback Friday! It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned it, but you can click on any image to enlarge it.

He-Man was the star of Masters of the Universe, but he was one of the more bland figures. He looked like a blond Conan with a battle harness.  They made several versions of He-Man, and somehow the original bland version was still the best looking one.

Here’s Todrick as He-Man, or rather He-Fur since the word “man” doesn’t hold the same significance in Pelarian society.

He-Fox

Here’s the comparison to the original. In this case, the original was one of the better ones from the Masters theme. Todrick’s face was still evolving and the limbs were too thin, but the proportions were better than most.

That’s all for this week. Next week, we’ll take a look at He-Man’s nemesis.
