Greetings Programs! Time to fight the Master Control Program with a deadly disc of blog content!

What a weird weekend. A wrestling super show on Friday? It started with the the Greatest Royal Rumble on Friday. Was it really the greatest? Well it was the biggest, but it was far from the greatest. Let’s say it was fine. 50 entrants is too much especially when most of them don’t mean anything. Considering there was no title shot involved it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give a win to someone unexpected that could serve as a push to the next level. It would also serve to give the impression that really anybody can win the Rumble. Instead, Braun Strowman, who doesn’t need elevating won. Oh well.

Saturday was International Table Top Day and Les Dés Truqués had a big sale. People could sell used games and Les Dés had specials on all new games. Nice deal. I surprised myself and culled my collection, bringing twelve items for sale. Half of them sold. Now that I’ve taken the first step, maybe it’ll be easier for me to part with some games in the future.

I didn’t actually attend the sale though. Instead I went to the movies to watch Infinity War and Ready Player One. Infinity War was a solid movie, though I can’t say I was really as into it as I would have liked. I think I have superhero movie fatigue. My favorite parts were the ones with any of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The rest was fine. My biggest complaint is that the big ending makes it clear that nothing’s gonna stick so the punch to the feels they were going for just didn’t land for me.

Ready Player One was…dumb. There, I said it. I refrained from reading the book until after I saw the movie so that I could judge the movie on its own merits. It’s a very empty experience that comes off as fanboy fan fiction. That said, the visuals are amazing and there are plenty of neat pop culture references as you would expect from the source material. From what I’ve read and heard they made huge concessions to the story to appeal to a wider audience, but the movie ultimately mostly appeals to fans of the book who for the most part aren’t happy with the changes.  I need to read the book though because it delves deeper into the character motivations which I just found lacking in the movie. So if the movie’s goal is to get more people to read the book to really understand what the big deal is…then I guess mission accomplished.

On Saturday night, I gamed as one should on International Table Top Day.

In all I was home and awake for maybe a half hour on Saturday. I didn’t think I was going to get any drawing done. But I was good on Sunday and got my two strips drawn. I’m a little behind on mash-ups. I just haven’t felt like colouring lately. That’ll need to change soon. The first Armello piece goes up on Wednesday (I do have one ready at least).

So that’s all the words I have for this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.

Hi there blog readers. As you’re reading this, you know what time it is. Blog Time!

Today has not been the best day ever. I  hurt my neck looking up at work. Somehow I pulled something. It was like, “Wow! That’s super painful!” Fortunately it was later in the afternoon so I didn’t have to suffer through too much of my work day. The capper to the day however was the bus breaking down before we could leave. This is the second time in a week that the bus I’m on or waiting for has experienced mechanical troubles. As a result, I’m an hour late getting home. Not fun. All things considered, if those are my two biggest concerns for the day, it’s not all THAT bad, but I’ve had better days.

I started watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine a week ago. I’d been watching some convention panels of Star Trek stars and it made me want to watch some Trek. Deep Space Nine is the most radically different of that era of series and that appealed to me. I remember watching some of the early episodes back in the day but so far, apart from the pilot, I can’t say I remember seeing any of the stuff I’m watching now.

Three games on the horizon for me: Mystic Vale, Space Base and the expansion for Roll Player. Some good times lie ahead.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday.

Hey all. Blog time. I was having a lot of connectivity problems earlier so this is going to be short…I need sleep.

It’s been raining on and off all day. And it’s been cold so the rain has frozen to make everything really unpleasant outside. I’m really looking forward to spring arriving for real.

I finally got to try the game I suspect would have made my Top 100 had I played it before I made the list: Thunderstone Quest. And yes, it was glorious. I enjoyed the original Thunderstone and Quest just improves on it. I definitely hope to play it again soon.

FCL put on its monthly wrestling card on Saturday. It was probably the weakest show of theirs since I started going to them. The guys (and girl) worked hard but it just didn’t click well. The crowd was rowdy but not in a good way. They kept cheering for the ref and the Cats. Not good.

That’s all for this week. As I said, it was brief. I just didn’t want to skip a week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.

Hey all! Time for a new blog!

The big news over the weekend was Wrestlemania. How was it?

First, the Hall of Fame on Friday. Wow was that needlessly long. As much as I like Hillbilly Jim as a person, he went on way too long. He was also trying to sound like he was saying something important and really failed miserably. They let the guys say what they want to say, but this was ridiculous. Dana Warrior should also be curtailed in her speeches. She’s inducting the recipient of the Warrior Award and she spent more time talking about her late husband than the person she was inducting. Those were the low (and I mean low) points. The high points were the Dudleys, Mark Henry and Ivory. The rest was somewhere in the middle.

Saturday night was NXT Takeover: New Orleans. What a show! The ladder match for the new North American Championship was insane. I was genuinely worried for EC3 at the end of the match. I didn’t really know who Adam Cole was before he hit NXT, but I see good things for him ahead…BABY! They really went above and beyond in that match. The tag match was really solid. The swerve heel turn hit really well. The women’s match was…okay. I don’t care for Shayna Bayzler. The main event between Almas and Black was so good. As always, NXT set the bar high for Wrestlemania even though they don’t purport to be the same kind of show.

Wrestlemania on Sunday was, as has come to be the tradition, long. The pre-show started at 5 and the main event ended just before midnight. That’s 7 hours of wrestling after an already heavy weekend. The pre-show matches were fine. Low spots: Naomi winning the women’s battle royal after spending almost the entire match on the floor, Jinder winning the US Title over Rusev who was clearly over, the entire main event. High spots, the opening IC title match (though I would have given it to Finn over Seth), Charlotte vs. Asuka, Ronda Rousey’s very impressive debut match (so much was done well in that match) and seeing Daniel Bryan back in action. The rest was somewhere in the middle. The match I was most looking forward to, Styles vs. Nakamura fell short of my expectations. I’m very curious where they’re going to go with Nakamura going forward.

In Animus news, I decided that they next mash-up theme will be something new, instead of doing a flashback. My plays of Armello last weekend really got me going so I’m giving it a shot. I’ve got two pieces drawn already. They just need to be coloured and shaded. I’m pleased so far with the results.

That will do it for this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.

Greetings for a shortened blog this week. I’m getting to it late and there isn’t a terribly lot to talk about today.

The four day weekend is coming to a close. It was nice except that I couldn’t seem to sleep in as much as I would have liked. I’d go to bed super late and then wake up way too early. This morning, I woke up in a panic because I thought I was going to be late for work. How fortunate that I had the day off. I managed to sleep in after that and got a good seven hours (I’d been averaging four or five the previous nights).

It was an Armello weekend for me. With Les Dés Truqués closed yesterday and today, I decided to revisit the game. It took until my final game about ten minutes ago to find out that there’s a way to speed up the computer’s turns. Wow. That’s a real game-changer. I’d have gotten a lot more games in if I’d seen that sooner.

Wrestlemania weekend is coming up. Will the WWE put on the show we’ve all been wanting to see? Sadly I’m leaning towards no overall, but there should be a few bright spots.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print this week. Have a great seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.
