Hello there Flashback fans. Hey there Flashback fans (flashback to the greeting that I just wrote).

The Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup so they get a flashback!

Here’s Cyran playing for the Washington Capitals. I’d finished the picture earlier this week and then I apparently forgot to save the shading. So guess who had to reshade everything like just before this went up? So much fun…

Here’s the comparison to the original.

That’s all for this week. We’ll be going back to Armello next week.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! It’s time to get down to ringside.

Rick Martel was the quintessential baby face…until he wasn’t anymore. At Wrestlemania V, Strike Force reunited after almost a year where Martel had to take some time off, I believe, to take care of his ailing wife. I was jazzed to see him and Tito back together again. And they were facing the Brain Busters, another of my favorite teams (despite being heels). Then the unthinkable happened. Tito missed a flying forearm and hit Rick by mistake. After Tito got worked over Martel walked out on him and the heel turn began. He transformed into the narcissistic Model and I hated him. He was really good at being bad. He’s one of the only wrestlers I’ve met in real life and he’s really a class act. My hats off to The Model.

Here’s Red Rich dressed as The Model. He was the perfect choice for this role.

Here’s the comparison to the original. The original was probably one of my favorite pieces of that set, but it’s so off…model.

That’s all for the flashbacks. Two new wrestling pieces coming up and we’re on to something new!

Saturday Night’s Main Event used to start at 11:30 on Saturday night’s, so it’s only fitting that I remembered to post just in time for that. NXT Takeover was truly spectacular.

The Big Boss Man was an honest to goodness prison guard before becoming a wrestler. The best gimmicks are drawn from real life. He was a dastardly heel who became a charismatic face. Then he left the company and when he came back he was back to being a heel. He remained that way for the rest of his career.

Here’s Big Oonch as the Big Boss Man. Are you ready to serve some hard time?

Here’s a comparison to the original. The lines of the original were too thin and they look especially shaky.

That’s all for this week. One more flashback before two new wrestling pieces.

Welcome everyone to Saturday Night’s Main Flashback Event! I’m Carja. Let’s get down to ringside.

The story goes that Vince McMahon chose DiBiase to use the gimmick that McMahon himself would have used if ever he had become a wrestler. With it, DiBiase became one of the most iconic heels of the late 80s. And what a laugh! Everybody had a price, for The Million Dollar Man!

Who else to play the richest wrestler in the world, than Sass?

Here’s a comparison to the original.

That’s all for this week. More wrestling action next week!

Hello everyone and welcome to Saturday Night’s Main (Flashback) Event, coming to you live on a Saturday night! I’m your host Carja and here are some musings before we get to ringside action.

A heel that I hated. Where have I heard that one before? Surprisingly the WWF tried to bring the Honky Tonk Man in as a face but he was getting such vicious heel heat that they had to turn him heel. Oh, if only they still did that today! *cough* Roman Reigns *cough* But back to the Honky Tonk Man. He’s the champion they just couldn’t get the belt off of for lack of a suitable face to win it from him. Rumor has it that he only won the belt from Ricky Steamboat because the guy who was supposed to win that night didn’t show. It started a great heel run for the Honky Tonk Man that culminated in him getting beaten in less than a minute by the Ultimate Warrior two years later. I’ve grown to appreciate his work now and find him to be very entertaining looking back, but gosh how you just wanted to see him get his butt whooped back then.

Here’s Cyran dressed up as the Honky Tonk Man. I still don’t feel like I could do Honky Tonk Man’s blue jumpsuit justice, which is why I stuck with the red one with its easier to draw records and musical notes.

Here’s a comparison to the original.

And that’s all! Good night everybody!
