“Hello everyone and welcome to Wednesday Night Raw! I’m your host, Carja McMahon along with Popkin “The King” Lawler!”

“Pickles!”

If you repeat a lame joke often enough it becomes funny. My whole comedic career is based on this premise. Anyhoo, it’s time for new mash-ups. More wrestling this week (don’t worry, there’s only one week left after this one). Let’s send it back to our ring announcer shall we? As always, click to embiggen.

“WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” “From Calix’s Cross, ‘The Nature Girl’ Nek Flair!” Originally I was only going to do two weeks of wrestling mash-ups and Ric Flair was going to be in that set. Then I decided that I was going to do good guys and bad guys. Ric Flair was going to be in the first set, but Flair only became a good guy in the later part of his career. In my golden period of wrestling, he was “the dirtiest player in the game” so I moved him over to the bad guy set which is how Warrior made the cut in the first set. I didn’t know which robe to use. This wasn’t my first choice, and I even started drawing a different one, but I didn’t like how I was drawing the patterns on it, so I switched to this one which was easier to draw.

“From Bree, the Honkytinker Fur!” Don’t you just love his ear sideburns? Again, this track suit wasn’t the one I originally had in mind. To me, the classic Honkytonk Man track suit is his blue one with the floral patterns, but I really didn’t like how it turned out. I moved on to the next mash-up, but I couldn’t get over how bad the blue suit turned out so I did something I rarely do and went back to a finished drawing. I erased the colour layer and started over with this notes and records suit. It looks a whole lot better trust me.

“Shinies Shinies Shinies Shinies Shiniiiiiiiiies!” “From her summer home in Northend, the Million Shiny Fur, Sass Dibisassy!” The Million Dollar Belt wasn’t fun to draw. The rest was fairly easy.

“It’s time for the Sister Love Show!” I really struggled finding a heel for Deema. I feel the love theme works for her, but in her case, she would have been sincere.

“From Verdant, Mr. Perfect, Tod Hennig!” Mr. Perfect never had elaborate wrestling gear, but he was too cool to pass up. His trademarks were the towel he always carried with him to the ring and how he could spit out his gum and swat it in mid-air with his hand, so that’s what I tried to depict here.

That’s all for this week. Come back next week for the final wrestling installment.

“Hello everyone and welcome to AWWF Superstars! I’m your host Carja McMahon along with the legend Popkin Sammartino.”

“Pickles!”

That’s right folks. As promised, this week we start our mash-up look at the superstars of wrestling in the Animus World Wrestling Federation. Let’s get this battle royal started, shall we? As always, click to embiggen.

Introducing first, from Vawsing Beach, Pelaria, the AWWF Champion, the Immovable Barn Bogan!

“Next, from Tinkerwood Valley, the Deadfur, The Undertinkerer!” Undertaker was almost played by Big Oonch, so that the hat rim could hide his eyes, but I came up with a better idea for him (which you’ll see next week), and of course, I’ve already set a precedent with the name “Undertinker” so Cyran as the Undertinkerer made sense.

“Being accompanied to the ring by Popkin, from Music City, Sunnyvale, the Bird Girl, Zozo B. Ware!” I love how the name turned out, the drawing was…alright. This one was the longest to draw because I really struggled with the legs. To really sell this, Zoë should have Popkin on her arm, but that of course, would crush her. 😉 Popkin at least gets to make an appearance on her tights.

“Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh! What a rush!” “From Crimson Coast, Road Warrior Deema!” Deema as Hawk was almost entirely influenced by Deema’s head shape. Even though she’s “Road Warrior” Deema, I gave her Legion of Doom colors. The name Road Warrior Deema flows better but the LOD colors look more cartoony.

*cue bagpipe music* “And from Verdant, “Rowdy” Toddy Piper!” Hot Rod is my favorite all-time wrestler, so I went with Todrick to play him. How cool is it that his name works well?

That’s all for now. We’ll introduce more battle royal participants next week.

And thus started another Wednesday Mash-up…

Hey folks, it’s that time again. Last week I said we’d be checking out a semi-spacey theme. I was referring to the names of the main characters which all refer to planets. We’re going back to an anime theme with Sailor Moon. Click to embiggen.

First up, is the titular character, Sailor Moon played by Nektara.

Next, is Sailor Moon’s rival and friend, Sailor Mars, played by Deema. I thought the red costume would be a nice contrast to her green skin. The sailor senshi all have long limbs, while the Animus Funnies cast have short arms and legs. That means I have to cheat when I try poses like this one.

Tuxedo Kamen is replaced for a short period by the Moonlight Tinkerer, who is played here by Cyran.

Last up for this week, is Usagi’s nerdy schoolmate Gurio who at first has a crush on her, played of course, by that ladies’ fur, Big Oonch.

Come back next Wednesday to see the rest of the Sailor Moon crew.
