Happy New Year to all friends of Age of Animus past, present and future! I hope 2015 is finding you well. A special greeting to my friends Fab and Lyne who welcomed their brand new baby boy, Owen, over the holidays, the best present a family can receive.
My holiday vacations came to an end today so it was back to the office. It was an easier return than I feared, but still harder than I would have liked. There was a kerfuffle over emails that went on way too long, but otherwise it was a quiet day.
I spent most of my last weekend off working on the mock card backs for the G.I.Fur mash-ups, complete with file card write-ups for each character. The file cards were fun to write. With a finite amount of space, I had to be as succinct as possible (normally I like to ramble). I posted them all to the Age of Animus Facebook page instead of directly on the site for reasons.
As I mentioned in Friday’s flashback post, I drew the last of the scheduled flashbacks, which should go live on January 23rd. The feature I’ve chosen to replace the flashbacks will begin on January 30th. It’s a new strip featuring the Pickle Patch Bandits. It occurs to me that I could be drawing the long-awaited FnF-AoA crossover but I was inspired by recent events for this new Bandit story so I want to go with it while the idea is still fresh. Perhaps the crossover can be the next new feature.
Still no Skylanders news this week. I haven’t been able to get my hands on the new Light and Dark Skylanders or the Magic Trap Master so I haven’t played. I got new games for Christmas to occupy my time anyway (Lego Marvel Superheroes, Lego Batman 3, Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker and Batman Arkham Origins for those wondering).
When I get to the video game talk, I know it’s time to wrap things up so, this I believe concludes my first blog post of 2015. There will be others (51 to be exact). Check in every Monday to see what choice bits I have to share. Remember that new strips go up every Tuesday and Thursday. Also, Wednesday is Mash-up day and Friday is for flashbacks (until January 23rd) so there’s new content every weekday. Every now and then something will pop up on the weekends as well. Five minutes a day (depending on how fast you read) is all it takes to keep up with all things Animus. Maybe leave a word to show you’ve been by. I love to read non-spam comments! Okay, the plugs are done and so am I. Have a good seven and we’ll do it all again next Monday! Carja V.

Hello peoples! It’s the second post of 2015! I swear I’m not going to make that a thing. It’s just the first time I’m writing for the site in the new year (yesterday’s post was a Funny). Anyway, before we move on, let me just mention for those of you following on Facebook and wondering, there WAS a flashback posted last week. It was Cyran as Captain America. I was having trouble with my Facebook connection last week and it never updated.
I drew what is technically the last of the flashbacks today. I say technically, because the last flashback I have planned is of something I haven’t drawn before. I’m lumping it in with the flashbacks because it’s a theme I’ve done before. What is it? Well, you’ll find out on January 30th, when the last flashback goes live! For now, let’s just be happy with this week’s flashback. What I was thinking of for the last flashback will actually be the first of a new set of mash-ups which will bring new characters into old themes, like I did with Deema after her introduction. Who and what? You’ll find out January 21st, when the next mash-up theme is due. For now, let’s enjoy this week’s flashback.
Deema is here to close out the G.I.JOE theme as Jinx. Deema was first cast as Jinx because Jinx was the last of the original Joe gals. I wasn’t really feeling drawing Jinx again though. I rooted through yojoe.com (my go-to spot for Joe information) trying to find a different character to go with and nothing was working for me. So I decided to stick with Jinx, but I went with the revised card art which I thought would be a little more interesting to draw. So here it is.
I went with the revised art, but I stuck to my basic card layout just to keep things uniform.
And here’s the comparison to the original mash-up.
So that closes out G.I.JOE. Next week, is Star Wars (and it’s not even the last one) so come on back for that. Have a great weekend!

Hello and welcome to the last Age of Animus post of 2014. It’s mash-up day so let’s get right to it!
Today is another League of Legends day. As always, you can click on a picture to enlarge it.
Here we have Cyran as Ezreal. Goggles, right? I decided to go with the alternate Sherwood costume for Ezreal because a) it was remotely related to Robin Hood and b) it looked better to me than his original costume.
The energy wrench obscures a lot of the costume I worked so hard on, so here’s a version without. It’s one of the rare times you’ll ever see Cyran with out the wrench in his paw.
That’s all for this week. Two more League of Legends mash-ups to go. Hold on, how can there be two more if we’ve already gone through the main cast? That’s right! Secondary cast mash-ups bay-bee! Find out who next week!
