Hey there reader!

It’s Fab’s birthday today! Do you know Fab? If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you ARE Fab! Fab, for those of you who are reading this who AREN’T Fab, Fab is my best buddy. If you’re reading this and you are Fab, happy birthday! If you’re reading this and you’re NOT Fab, but it’s your birthday, then happy birthday to you too. Anybody else, well now you can’t say you didn’t know it’s Fab’s birthday.

I put up a sketch on the Age of Animus Facebook page over the weekend so it’s no secret that the first series of flashbacks will be from Masters of the Universe. It’s been four years to the month since the originals went up and the changes are quite striking. I normally don’t keep track of how long it takes me to draw or colour a mash-up. Today, I know that it took me upwards of two and a half hours to shade my Beast-Bear flashback. Compare that to when it would take me two and a half hours to complete a mash-up from start to finish and you see why my productivity has dropped off over the years.

Now Beast-Bear was actually my second mash-up of the weekend. The first, as seen in the Facebook sketch was of Lizard-at-Arms. Again, I was really motivated to draw these Masters of the Universe flashbacks (but still no Bandit Baby strips).

I got the urge to rewatch the Star Wars saga from the beginning over the weekend. That meant watching The Phantom Menace. It took me two days to watch it because I was really sleepy and kept dozing off. No really, I was tired, that wasn’t a commentary on the movie. I will say that it’s my least favorite of the Star Wars movies. And yet, it’s the one I went to see most often in the theatres…go figure.Apart from Duel of the Fates and the lightsaber battle between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul, it’s pretty mediocre. I actually watched the movie with commentary rather than watching it straight because that’s how little I care for any of the dialogue in it.
