Hello and welcome to another Flashback Friday, the feature read by top women. TOP. Women. (I believe in keeping things even.)

Is Zodac a bad guy? His original action figure’s packaging listed him as an evil cosmic enforcer, but just about all of his appearances across various media had him acting as a neutral entity and they eventually ditched the “evil” tagline on later packaging. I needed to balance things out between the heroes and the villains so he’s on the bad guy side here. I didn’t much care for the action figure back in the day because I found the design a little boring. I dig the helmet today.

Not surprisingly, Big Oonch got the role of Zodac because he wears a helmet that covers his eyes. I think the helmet turned out really well here.

This was another situation where I ended up not liking the first sketch I drew and started over before I got to inking and colouring it. Here’s the first sketch. I was going for an action pose as though Oonch was about to fire his blaster, but meh. I like the more casual pose above much better.

Here’s the comparison to the original. I think the red pops more in the remake. The original is a askew because I was again going for that action-type pose and it was supposed to depict one foot being ahead of the other. It ended up looking like I drew it at an angle.

That’s all for this week. See you for more flashbacks next Friday.

Welcome back to the blog that’s read by top men. TOP. Men.

November is almost over and with it goes my bike-riding season. Two days left until the December bus pass kicks in. Looks like I’ll make my goal again this year of biking through to December. That’s two years in a row!

Kayla joined us for board game night last Friday. We played Watchmen of Destiny, World’s Fair 1893 and Speedy Words. It was quite the time. It’d been a while since I’d laughed that hard.

I followed that up with some more gaming with Frank and Melanie on Saturday where I got to try the new expansion for Pandemic: The Cure. I added in the fifth disease module and at first everything went along swimmingly. Then I said, “Wow! We’re really doing well!” and that’s when things started to go sideways. We stalled out for four turns trying to cure the same disease, always missing by one. Because of that we weren’t able to do as many actions as we normally could so we started falling behind until we lost on outbreaks. I was looking for the expansion to add some challenge to the game and it delivered!

I can’t think of anything else to write about this week so I’ll call it a blog for this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.

Friday morning is here and that’s time for a mash-up. It’s about the only thing that’ll have posted on time this week. I’ve been so lax. Click on pictures to enlarge!

I’m split on Orko. The character was comic relief in the cartoon and tended to be on the annoying side. His figure was similar to Ram-Man in that he was a block of plastic with only his arms that were poseable. I never got the toy but I wanted it. The zip cord that made him roll across the floor in circles was just a neat feature.

Here’s Cyran as Orko. I love how this one turned out. In particular, I think the robe looks good, particularly the way the hem billows out.

Here’s a comparison to the original, which I liked except for it looks like his left arm backwards. That has a lot to do with how I drew paws back then.

That’s all for this week. More Masters of the Universe fun in the weeks to come. Don’t ya dare miss it!
