It’s the best kind of deja vu. It’s flashback time!

Here’s Nektara in her space age commander’s uniform. I don’t know why, but I seem to like this combination of blue and pink. They’re the colours I chose to paint my Eldar army in Warhammer 40K for that brief period where I thought I wanted to paint an army.

Here’s the comparison to the original. She sure did slim up from those days huh? As I’ve refined the character’s looks, her head got bigger and her body got smaller.

That’s all for this week. A new flashback next Friday!

Hello Top Men and Top Women.

Last night I did something I hadn’t done in…gosh many a year. I played Magic The Gathering against living, breathing opponents face to face. Le Joker du Jeu had a prerelease sealed tournament for the latest Magic expansion and not having any other plans for the evening, I decided to participate. However I may enjoy the game (and that comes and goes) I can’t say it’s a game I’ve ever been especially good at. The magic (see what I did there?) of sealed tournaments is that everybody starts off on a level playing field. You open your packs and build from what you got. Sure, you can get lucky and get the super mega awesome god card, but if you don’t have anything to support it, it’s not going to do you any good. So I built the best deck I figured I could…and soundly got thrashed in two out of the three rounds. The other round I actually won, but mostly because my opponent just couldn’t get the land he needed to get going in two of the three games we played. I finished dead last, but still had a good time.

Speaking of things I dove back into, I started playing Armello again. I even played some online matches against other folk which I mostly enjoyed. The biggest drawback is that it’s much slower to play as real players need time to consider their moves. The biggest attraction is earning keys and chests to unlock new dice to use. They’re purely an aesthetic change, but a cool one. I’m slowing trying to unlock a complete set of the dice that are currently available.

The current storyline in the Funnies concludes tomorrow. There are a couple of standalone strips after that and then we jump into another story for about a month.

Well that’s all for this week. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.

It’s Friday afternoon and I’m home so yay for that. It’s time for a flashback so yay for that as well.

The space age set was an homage to pulp science fiction stories and movies. They don’t have a huge regard for actual science and thus would probably be better qualified as science fantasy. There’s just something fun about the retro look. The Rayguns & Rocketships kickstarter won me over almost on the look of it alone.

We start our trip down asteroid memory lane with Barnaby. If I had to pick a role for him, it would be a space fleet cadet, ready to serve. My favorite element is the glass faceplate effect.

Here’s the comparison to the original. Barnaby has clearly lost some weight in five years. The original piece had Barnaby saluting. I tried to go for that again in the new piece, but it looks more like he’s shielding his eyes from the light as he looks at something in the distance.

That’s all for this week. See you next Friday for another reveal.
