Hello folks! It’s time for a flashback. Now you MIGHT guess that I forgot to put this up yesterday (and you’d be correct) but then I had this spiffy idea to change the title for this theme. Saturday Night’s Main Event was a staple for me as a WWF (they’re WWE now, but in the time period I’m covering, they were still the Federation) fan in the 80’s and early 90’s. So yeah. Mistakes were made and lemonade was made from those mistakes.

I was never a Hulkamaniac growing up. I was supposed to be. Everybody was. I just didn’t find Hulk Hogan terribly interesting as a character. If I hadn’t been told that wrestling was fake, I think I would have eventually figured it out by watching Hogan’s matches. Not because he was terrible at what he did, but because of how repetitive they were. His interviews and matches felt very samey. It was all by design. Why fix what wasn’t broken? He was undoubtedly the biggest star in the WWF.

Here’s Barnaby dressed up as the Hulkster. The bandanna was a late addition. I only had the shading left to do on the piece and I wasn’t super happy with the hair. Then I remembered that since is obviously taking place before the shirt rip, that he would still also have his bandanna on. Problem solved. In retrospect, it’s funny, but I like him better without the bandanna. But you can still see both pieces here.

Here’s a comparison to the original. I forgot Hogan’s crucifix in the new piece. Despite the awkward limbs, I think I got the lean and listen pose a little bit better in the original.

That’s all for this week. I may have written myself into posting flashbacks on Saturday for the duration of this theme, so yeah. I’ll probably see you next Saturday.

Howdy Top Men and Top Women. Time for another blog already.

I did not sleep well last night. I went to bed after the post PPV show at 11:30 but for some reason I wasn’t able to fall asleep. I checked the clock at one point and it was nearly a quarter to two. It didn’t feel like I’d been tossing and turning for over two hours, but apparently I had.

It wasn’t that the wrestling show was that good. The tag team title match was spectacular (my man Cesaro always delivers) and the rest of the card was…adequate. I didn’t watch the Bray Wyatt vs, Finn Balor match because I’m completely over Bray Wyatt. Nothing he does interests me anymore. The cruiserweight title match was an absolute joke. I don’t know how they could have Enzo come out acting so smug after winning in the most terrible way possible. They should have let Tozawa keep the title and have Neville chase him a bit. At least they can wrestle.

This wrestling talk is courtesy of the Animus Wrestling Federation set to make its comeback this Friday. I thought I’d finish up one of my pieces tonight, but the energy levels are drooping so I don’t know if it’s in the cards.

Speaking of cards, my second box of Empire at War was SOOOOOO much better than the first. Every card I was most looking forward to playing was in it. I started building with a Seventh Sister deck that I think has some potential. I’ll need a second Hera to really start exploring my starship deck. Can’t wait to play again.

So that’s all for this week. Have a good seven all and we’ll do this all again next Monday, Carja V.

It’s technically not a flashback if there’s no earlier piece to compare to, but I don’t want to keep switching back and forth from Fridays to Wednesdays for Skitter and Chae so they get the Friday slot too.

So here’s Skitter in the costume I came up for him. I can’t say it was very inspired. It’s an alien leader robe. He looks cute in just about every outfit.

That’s all for this week and for the revisiting of the space age theme. Come back next Friday for the start of the next theme.
