Wednesday morning, and it’s time to post a mash-up!

You can play Armello online against other human players, but I don’t really enjoy playing that way. It’s much too slow waiting for people I can’t see or interact with (not well anyway). Logically it’s no different from playing a physical board game at a table, but being around a table with others FEELS different and at least I know the people I’m playing with so it doesn’t feel as bad.

Here’s Barnaby as Ghor of the Bear Clan. Ghor has such a simple design and yet it was so tricky to draw because of Barnaby’s dimensions, particularly his head. This is the best I could manage.

That’s all for this week. More from Armello next Wednesday!

Greetings Programs! Time to write the blog that you will then read. Our contract will be fulfilled for another week and we will continue along our predestined paths.

I biked to work for the first time this year today. Things went well enough. I learned that I still need to wear gloves in the morning. My hands still feel a little uncomfortable.

I tried a new game over the weekend. I finally got my hands on a copy of Mystic Vale and I’m impressed. It’s a card crafting game, that is you build your cards as you play. The system uses transparent cards with advancements printed in one of three sections. You insert the advancements you buy in plastic sleeves so the next time you play the card you gain the effects of the advancement you added to it. AEG is using the system in its new game, Edge of Darkness, which has apparently been in development for a while. There was an advertisement for it in the copy of Mystic Vale I bought (Mystic Vale was released in 2016) and Edge of Darkness successfully funded through Kickstarter earlier this year. Having now played Mystic Vale and tried out the card crafting system for myself, I’m even happier that I backed Edge of Darkness.

There was an FCL show on Saturday. It was leagues better than the last card they put on. The final show of the season is in June. It’s not looking like Fab and Lyne will be able to make it. I don’t know that I want to go on my own, so I might not attend either. It’s looking like a good card though so I’ll have to see.

The first Armello piece went up last Wednesday. I got a retweet which was nice. The last time I got some feedback from someone other than a friend or regular follower was when I did the League of Legends set. I don’t think Armello’s following is quite as large, but anything that attracts outside attention is good.

That’s all for this week, I think. Have a good seven and we’ll do this all again next Monday. Carja V.

Hello and welcome back to the Wednesday Mash-up…how long has it been since something has gone up on a Wednesday? A while for sure. It’s been a while since I’ve said it, but remember you can click on a picture to switch to a close-up view.

Armello is a digital board game and it is beautiful. One of the things I was most happy about having to upgrade my computer when my old one fried was that I would be able to play it without my computer overheating (that’s how bad my old computer had gotten). Armello features anthropomorphic animals (no appeal there) in a fantasy setting (strike two) and, I’ll repeat because I cannot stress it enough, it’s a board game! Players choose a character from one of five clans: Rabbit, Rat, Wolf, Bear or Bandit. Their chosen champion tries to win the game through having more prestige than all the others when the king dies from the Rot (the most simple way to win), by becoming corrupted by the Rot and defeating the king, by simply defeating the king, or by collecting four spirit stones and ridding the king of the Rot (which still kills him). I’ll talk more about Armello in future installments.

Zosha is a member of the Rat clan. So she’s a rodent and her name starts with a Z. Yup, that had Zoë written all over it. Here she is dressed as Zosha. Her big ears often prove a challenge for whatever costume I want to put her in. Zosha had ear holes in her hat, I had to widen them a fair bit and of course, only the tips of Zoë’s ears poke through.

That’s all for this week. We’ll dig a little deeper into Armello next Wednesday!
