Friday is a special day. It’s even more special when there’s a flashback involved. So let’s enjoy this even more special day!

Quina is a blue mage gourmand cook. Their gender is never clear in the game. It’s not really important either. They’re Quina and they love to eat frogs. Quina is one of my favorite cards in the Final Fantasy TCG. Lots of fun.

Popkin is back as Quina. This one was pretty simple to draw with one or two little exceptions. I’m not sure how I feel about the colouring job I did. It’s not quite what I wanted. I really like how the tongue turned out though. That’s really weird to say huh?

Here’s a comparison to the original. I kinda like the colouring of the original better. At least the jacket. The new piece is much more polished of course.

That’s all for this week. Right now it’s time for my evening walk. We’ll have more fun next week! See you then!

Hello! Today was my first Friday working since June. I hate the end of vacation time. I think the best way to get over it is with a flashback, even if it’s late!

Freya is a Burmecian dragoon. What is a Burmecian you may ask? Well, it’s dragonfolk. So Freya is a dragon dragoon. Fun huh? I liked having her on my team as I felt her attacks were strong. I’ll be honest though, back when I first played Final Fantasy IX, I thought Freya was some kind of bird-rat thing.

Deema is a lizard and dragons are lizards so Deema gets to play Freya. I’m happy with how this one turned out, even the colouring. It’s one of the better pieces so far.

Here’s a comparison to the original piece. I didn’t cheat as much for Deema back then…except for her feet. Other than the shaky lines, this one was good. She gets to wear a wig this time!

That’s all for this week. Next week we get to do this again! Be sure to come back and see what’s new!

Waitaminute! Wednesday came and went without a mash-up! Did I forget to post again? NO! It’s a flashback theme! So we’re switching to Fridays for the next…9 weeks. It occurs to me now that if this is going up on Friday, I didn’t have to rush to finish this on Monday night. Fun stuff huh? Let’s get to it.

I started playing the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game recently so I’ve had Final Fantasy on the brain. And at last I’ve decided to revisit my favorite of the Final Fantasy games: Final Fantasy IX. It’s been eight years and I’ve been very reluctant to go back to this set of mash-ups. My drawing has improved, but somehow I still can’t help feeling I won’t be able to match the original set.

Here’s Todrick as the main protagonist of the game, Zidane. I don’t hate the boots. They’re not great, but I don’t hate them like I usually hate how my footwear attempts come out. That’s something!

Here’s a comparison with the original mash-up. The obvious thing is the lines are smoother. That’s always a given with these flashbacks. But the detail of the costume in the original was really good for the time. Cheating with the Todrick’s proportions helps. You know, it would be so much easier drawing Todrick if I still did crossing semi-circles for his head instead of an oval!

That’s all for this week! The next flashback comes next Friday! Come back to see it!

Hello everybody! It’s time for another flashback! So let’s get to it.

It’s been close to seven years since I first tried a Transformers mash-up. I did Prime and then I decided that it wasn’t working so I dropped it. I’ve progressed since then and thought I’d try again.

Here we have Red Rich reprising his role as Optimus Prime. I really like how the helmet turned out. The rest is…ok.

Here’s the comparison to the original. Back then I was trying to follow Prime’s design more than I was trying to adapt it to fit my character. I simplified things much more for the update. It’s not perfect, but it fits better.

That’s all for today. I didn’t hate the result as much this time around so I have some new Transformers mash-ups coming up. Have a good weekend everybody. Stay safe and stay healthy.
