Hello and how are ya, all you Top Men and Top Women out there? I’m doing fine and ready to post a short blog this week.
I finally got to break out my copy of Too Many Bones yesterday and it was pretty great. They call it a Dice-building RPG. Let me be clear, there is no roleplaying in this game. I think a more accurate description would be a Dice-building Adventure Game. Each player has a neoprene (think mousepad) character sheet with cut-outs to put the skill dice they earn and a reference sheet to help them figure out what all those dice do. Even though the core of the game is simple, there’s a lot of information to assimilate. We played the shortest adventure scenario and it still took us somewhere upwards of four hours to get through it. With repeated plays, I’d say the play time could easily be cut down to as much as half. Those other scenarios promise to be beasts. I look forward to getting to get it to the table again, which is the sign of a good game.
