Hello and welcome to another Flashback Friday, the feature read by top women. TOP. Women. (I believe in keeping things even.)
Is Zodac a bad guy? His original action figure’s packaging listed him as an evil cosmic enforcer, but just about all of his appearances across various media had him acting as a neutral entity and they eventually ditched the “evil” tagline on later packaging. I needed to balance things out between the heroes and the villains so he’s on the bad guy side here. I didn’t much care for the action figure back in the day because I found the design a little boring. I dig the helmet today.
Not surprisingly, Big Oonch got the role of Zodac because he wears a helmet that covers his eyes. I think the helmet turned out really well here.
This was another situation where I ended up not liking the first sketch I drew and started over before I got to inking and colouring it. Here’s the first sketch. I was going for an action pose as though Oonch was about to fire his blaster, but meh. I like the more casual pose above much better.
Here’s the comparison to the original. I think the red pops more in the remake. The original is a askew because I was again going for that action-type pose and it was supposed to depict one foot being ahead of the other. It ended up looking like I drew it at an angle.
